En glad trall
A Happy Tune

TRANSLATION AND COMMENTS BY DR. ALF LUNDER KNUDSEN

Swedish composer Felix Körling (1864-1937) set the tune to the spirited poem by Gustaf Fröding (1860-1911), describing how:

Three maidens stroll in the sun
on the road by Lindanele;
They turned,
they swirled their dresses,
and all three sang,
“tra-la-la-la-la.”

They marched in step like soldiers,
and then they waltzed
and played “The odd one’s out,”
and all three sang,
“tra-la-la-la-la.”
