Der aander en tindrende sommerluft
varmt over Hardangerfjords vande,
sit helligdagsskrud staar egnen klædt i,
thi se, over grønklare bølge
hjem glider et brudefølge.

A sparkling summer air breaths warmly
’cross Hardanger Fjord’s waters,
where high towards the heavens in bluish scent
the majestic mountains stand.
It shines from glaciers turns green from hillside,
the meadow is clad in its Sunday garb,
thus look, across ’green-clear’ swells/waves
a wedding procession glides home.

Saa drage de fremad med lysteligt spil
hen over den blinkende flade,

Thus they move forward with lively music
’cross the twinkling flat surface,
and boat after boat joins in
filled with happy wedding guests.
It’s bluish from cleft, it shines from glacier,
it smells from flowering apple trees –
grand the church stands on the cape
and blesses with the chime of its bell.
