In the 1890s, Swedish artists Carl Axel Brolen, PhD (1845-1939), composer, and Count Carl Johan Gustaf Snoilsky (1841-1903), poet, collaborated on this ofte-sung gem that became a favorite performance number on the programs of Scandinavian male choruses in Norway, Sweden, and the USA.
